Local Group Celebrates 150th Anniversary Rally
A group of like-minded people gathered at the corner of Burnhamthorpe and Hurontario to celebrate by doing the same thing they have done 149 times before – rally.
It’s a rally reminiscent of the warm feelings so many of us embraced in late January of 2022 as brave truckers made their way across Canada to Ottawa and the celebration of freedom that followed.
When the rally comes into view, as you navigate Mississauga’s busiest intersection, you are treated to a remarkable display of over 100 Canadian flags festooned all around the intersection as well as being waved by ralliers.
Among the flags are banners which convey a number of messages, the two most notable being the website TheyLied.ca and reminders to Use Cash. There are of course a number of messages aimed at the parties in power.
In keeping with the convoy, there was food and cake as well as a bouncy castle and the oversized blow-up sheep lovingly called Shelby.
The rally continues every week so if you are looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon that is both meaningful and enjoyable, with instant camaraderie and great conversation, drop by between 12-4 and say hi. Prepare to be hugged.
